2018 Nissan Leaf Heads To Production in Smyrna
This month, the all-new 2018 Nissan Leaf was unveiled to the world in an online presentation. The car received a much-needed update in design and driving range, along with a starting MSRP that is $690 below the current Nissan Leaf. While several models of the new car are making their way around the country to earn the goodwill of old and new Nissan fans, the hard work has just begun in Smyrna, Tennessee.

The latest generation of the Nissan Leaf will be built at Nissan’s main Tennessee facility, which also churns out the Nissan Altima, Pathfinder, Maxima and Rogue, as well as the luxury Infiniti QX60. Today, the Nissan Electric twitter account tweeted out a picture of what we only can assume are the first Nissan Leaf metal shells headed to the assembly line.

“Nissan Smyrna has been the U.S. home of the LEAF since 2013, and we are honored to continue to assemble the most popular electric vehicle in the world,” said Heath Holtz, vice president, Manufacturing, Nissan Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant.

On the exterior, the Nissan Leaf now looks like a member of the Nissan lineup instead of its distant cousin. The chrome V-Motion grille and the angled headlights are mostly to thank for that. The interior maintains the previous Leaf’s theme of a sleek, modern ride with attention to ride comfort and easy access to technology.
Nissan estimates that the 2018 Nissan Leaf EV will be on dealership lots in all 50 states in early 2018.
