Subaru brought both the 2.5i and 3.6R Limited models to the Windy City

While many people at this year’s Chicago Auto Show will be busy looking for a place to park or trying to score some discounted tickets, Subaru enthusiasts know they just need to get inside McCormick Place at any cost so they can rest their eyes on the updated 2018 Subaru Legacy.

Already the only mid-size sedan to come standard with all-wheel drive, Subaru upped the ante this year by sharpening the look of both the front and rear fascias. Most notably, the front end features a broader hexagonal grille, a new bumper, and updated headlights with LED running lights. Additionally, the back end of the vehicle comes with a restyled bumper along with integrated tailpipes. Furthermore, two new color options have been added for 2018, which are Crimson Red Pearl and Magnetite Gray Metallic.

The other big change made to the Legacy comes inside the cabin. A larger 6.5-inch StarLink multimedia system now comes standard, replacing the 6.2-inch system that was equipped on the previous model. However, if that still isn’t large enough, consumers can upgrade to an even bigger 8-inch StarLink system, both of which are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. What’s more, the interior boasts extra sound insulation and superior materials throughout the cabin.

One thing that hasn’t changed about the Legacy is its engine options. The standard motor is a 2.5-liter boxer engine good for 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. For a little more juice, Subaru also offers a 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine that provides 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come paired with a retuned continuously variable transmission (CVT) that provides improved acceleration.

Subaru certainly has been busy as of late, having already introduced its redesigned Impreza sedan, while also announcing the next-generation Crosstrek will be debuting at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show.

The 2018 Subaru Legacy sedan is set to go on sale in the US this summer.
