2019 Cadillac XT4 Debuts in China by the End of This Month

Cadillac is poised to release the 2019 XT4 crossover in China before the end of August. Considering that this country is currently the brand’s largest market by volume, this model’s success in China should serve as a litmus test for its success in the U.S. market. American consumers will have to wait a bit longer to experience this new addition to the Cadillac family, since the XT4 won’t arrive in dealerships until mid-October.

The 2019 XT4 embodies quite a few “firsts” for the brand. For starters, it will incorporate an electro-hydraulic assist brake system for more precise brake performance. A next-generation Electronic Precision Shift gear selector will take up less space under the hood while boosting fuel economy. Cadillac will also spotlight its newest infotainment system equipped with two  rotary controllers. OnStar 4G LTE service and built-in Wi-Fi (or Car-Fi, as Chinese consumers refer to it) add to the high-tech amenities.

The XT4 model’s Chinese release will also demonstrate the luxury automaker’s new “Y” trim strategy, which aims to attract young drivers to the brand. The Y trim level strategy features a Luxury base trim, as well as two higher trims that build on it: the Premium Luxury and Sport. The first will include more refined mechanics as well as bright accents. The second boasts even more mechanical tweaks, as well as body-color accents and blacked-out detailing for dramatic appeal.

We anticipate the 2019 XT4 model’s sales success in China as we wait for it to arrive in U.S. dealerships this fall.
