4 of the Worst Episodes of Carpool Karaoke

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

Here are The News Wheel, we are big fans of Carpool Karaoke. We’ve even put together a list of our favorite episodes. But there are a few that stand out as, well, not so great. Not every episode can be a winner, so here are a few that missed the mark.

One Direction

Since we’ve already dedicated an entire article on why One Direction’s episode of Carpool Karaoke sucked, we figured their episode should probably come first on this list. The episode consisted of singing (good singing, but still) and only singing, which sort of defeats the purpose of Carpool Karaoke as it has come to be. There weren’t any funny jokes or skits incorporated into the episode. It was literally just karaoke.

Sia

Truthfully, this one was less entertaining than One Direction’s episode. To put it simply, it was boring. The only significant piece of insight into Sia’s life or personality we had was her reasoning behind the wig (to hide her identity – even though people still know what she looks like). We did get to see James Corden wear Sia’s wig, though, which made for a good laugh.

Katy Perry

The negative response we had to this episode was mostly based on Katy Perry’s negative attitude. The entire episode, she made what we think are supposed to be jokes, but they just came off as rude and a little bit awkward. The delivery wasn’t exactly comedic, which didn’t help when she’s sitting next to a professional comedian. Katy Perry spent a portion of the episode dishing out the details of her beef with Taylor Swift, which made the episode feel far angry and gossip-heavy instead of a lighthearted comedy segment.

[wptab name=”Mariah Carey”]

Mariah Carey

It was the first ever, and it was one of the worst ever. Sure, we get it. It was the first attempt at Carpool Karaoke, so it’s not going to be perfect. But it’s not a great start. From the beginning of the segment, Mariah Carey seems unhappy and annoyed, as if she doesn’t want to be there. Her attitude may have been put on for comedic purposes, but its humor didn’t read. Plus, when her songs came on, she seemed annoyed, almost like that’s not what she signed up for. The whole thing felt awkward and uncomfortable.
