Maintenance for your car can be expensive, particularly if you’re on a tight budget, so it’s a good idea to learn how to perform basic car repairs yourself to save money. The following are easy to learn and will save you money.

1. Oil change

To change your engine oil, you’ll first need to purchase some new oil and an oil filter. Find the oil drain plug of your vehicle and drain the old oil into a pan. Replace the drain plug, then fill up with new, clean oil.

2. Change a flat tire

Learn to change a tire yourself by watching videos and practicing. To change a tire on the road, you’ll need a jack, a wrench, and a spare tire with you at all times.

3. Change the spark plugs

Changing spark plugs is a relatively easy task. Find the spark plug and remove the wire. Next, remove the old spark plug and put in the new one. Attach the wire to the new spark plug and you are good to go.

4. Remove scratches from paint

You don’t have to spend a lot of money for professionals to remove scratches from your car’s paint. Look for decently priced creams and polishes that help buff away the scratches and make them much less visible.

5. Change the battery

The first step is to remove the battery covering and then disengage the negative cables. Next, distance the clamp away from the battery post and remove all the screws. Insert the new battery and connect the cable clamps once again.
