Supported by Legends - Heisman House Nissan Habitat for HumanityThe Heisman Trophy is the highest award in college football, and it is an honor only bestowed once a year. Nissan has partnered with the Heisman Trophy Trust organization for many years, helping to provide support for the organization’s work with young players and teaming up for other charitable projects. This month, Nissan paired the Trophy Trust with another one of its charitable causes, Habitat for Humanity, to change the lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

Nissan called upon former Heisman winners Tony Dorsett, Charlie Ward, Marcus Allen, George Rogers and Danny Wuerffel to come to Atlanta and help work on a true “Heisman House” like those Nissan uses in its commercials featuring trophy winners. Instead of it being a house for former football players, however, it was a home for Kellecia Shannon and her family.

Building a new house isn’t all that the team accomplished, however. The five football players were joined by international soccer star Pavel Pardo to mount a youth soccer and football clinic to pass on their impressive skills to the next generation of athletes. This was all a part of Habitat’s Home is the Key campaign, when the organization worked hard to bring together spokespeople, sponsors, and owners of Habitat homes. These groups then collaborated to work on homes in progress and launch events and workshops to benefit the surrounding community. For its part, every time #HomeIsTheKey was shared on social media, Nissan donated $1 to Habitat for Humanity.

Throughout the year, we all hear a lot about both Nissan’s partnership with the Heisman Trophy Trust and its work with Habitat for Humanity. We applaud Nissan for bringing these two things together in such an engaging way to benefit the community.
