One of India’s most significant bridal fashion shows returns this summer. The seventh edition of India Bridal Fashion Week (IBFW) will have BMW return as a headlining sponsor. The festival of luscious bridal couture will begin in Delhi from July 15th to 19th.

We received a preview of the seven-city tour last week when Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha (Dabangg), brand ambassador for BMW India, appeared at an IBFW press conference to showcase the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe.

BMW Appeals to Fashionistas to Break into Indian Market

BMW has been trying to impress India with its luxury cars for a while; recently, the brand has turned to high fashion to gain more customers. In India, vehicles are not considered a sign of luxury like fancy clothes or houses are–they’re just a necessity. However, if the German auto brand can connect luxury style to luxury rides, BMW might break into the market.

According to BMW Group India President, Philipp von Sahr, “Indian designers have to be dynamic, precise and accurate while making their products to give their customers joy. BMW also focuses on the same to provide a joy of driving, leading to a good partnership.” He also explained how the brand’s designs are intended to evoke emotions, just like an Indian wedding should.

This year’s event should be bigger than before, with more designers showing their work across the nation in seven cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh) between July and November. Designers participating in this year’s India Bridal Fashion Week include Ashima Leena, Suneet Varma, JJ Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani, and dozens of others.
