8K Ford Employees Trained for 400 Hours before Kicking Off 2015 F-150 Production

Despite retaining so much of the DNA essential to the ethos of Ford Tough, the new 2015 Ford F-150 is quite unlike any pickup truck ever made. In order to ensure each and every new F-150 to roll off the line at both Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant is up to Ford’s superior standard for quality, more than 8,000 skilled trades and production workers were put through an intensive training program.

To get these men and women ready to build the smartest and strongest F-150 ever put forth, they undertook more than 400 hours of in-class and hands-on courses that addressed everything from tools used on the production line to putting together the truck’s electrical control system.

“Through this program, we have armed both our skilled trades and production workers with the skills necessary to produce the next generation of vehicle technology,” said Aris Janitens, Ford Launch Planning and Work Force Readiness manager. “Our workers now are able to deal with the latest in automotive manufacturing technology and, as a result, keep production on schedule to deliver best-in-class, quality trucks to our customers.”

So far, so good: the 2015 F-150 launched to great acclaim at the end of 2014, and sales are already up in 2015. All told, Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant have the potential to build as many as 700,000 F-150s for Ford’s 90 markets around the globe.
