Acadia and ATPs Up, But GMC Sales Fall 5.2% in May

GMC sales fell 5.2% in May with 41,126 units delivered in the United States. Retail sales also fell off, diving 6.9% with 34,869 units delivered. GMC also notes that May set a new record for retail ATPs at $44,675, up $1,667 year-over-year.

The Acadia led the brand from a growth perspective, with sales rising 37.9% year-over-year at 8,835 units delivered; retail sales increased 33%. Through May, the new, lighter Acadia has spurred a 50.4% sales increase for the nameplate, growing from 31,982 units delivered through the first five months of 2016 to 48,111 units delivered through the first five months of this year.

Despite an 8.2% sales decline, Sierra led GMC in terms of volume with a total of 16,200 units delivered. Sierra sales total 83,410 units through May, down 6.6% from its pace through May 2016.

While sales of the Yukon were down 23.8% at 2,857 units, sales of the larger Yukon XL increased 9.6% with 2,612 units delivered. Through May, sales of the Yukon XL are up 5% at 12,185 units, while sales of the Yukon are down 1.2% at 15,871 units.

Canyon sales were down 26.3% in May at 2,477 units delivered, and sales through May are down 11.4% at 12,372 units delivered. Terrain sales totaled 5,527 units in May, down 26.4%; through five months, Terrain is down 5.2% at 36,778 units.

Savana sales were strong at 2,618 units, up 11.8%. The van’s sales are up 31.8% at 13,014 units up to now.

Through May, GMC’s US sales are up 4.8% at 221,741 vehicles delivered. Retail sales are down slightly at 180,371 units.
