Acadia, Denali Lead GMC to Big March Sales Increase

GMC’s overall sales increased 12% in March with 49,948 units delivered, led by a 47% increase in crossover sales. Retail sales fell 3.1% at 39,048 units delivered.

Acadia sales increased 84% with 11,432 units sold; first-quarter sales of the all-new Acadia are up 56.8% from 2016 with 29,112 units delivered. Terrain sales were up 13.6% at 7,831 units.

The Sierra led GMC in terms of volume with 18,460 units delivered, but sales declined 14.3% year-over-year. Through three months, Sierra sales are down 2.6% at 49,810 trucks sold. Yukon sales were down 5.8% at 3,197 units, but Yukon XL sales were up 17.4% overall at 2,849 units and up 14% at retail. Savana sales were up 196.5% at 3,689 units sold, and Canyon sales were down 13.1% at 2,490 units.

March also marked GMC’s best-ever month for Denali, with 29% of all retail sales being Denali-badged variants.

With the first quarter in the books, GMC sales are up 10.4% at 133,611 units sold, good for the brand’s best first quarter in 17 years. Sales of the Yukon are up 11.1% at 9,984 units, sales of the Yukon XL are up 12.7% at 7,556 units, sales of the Savana are up 64.1% at 6,767 units, sales of the Terrain are down 4.6% at 22,855 units, and sales of the Canyon are down 7,527 units. Retail sales are up 3.5% at 107,993 units, with sales of the Acadia up 30% and Sierra HD sales up 22%.
