Acura Sedans Continue Impressive Sales Momentum
Honda’s sedans took a back seat to its SUVs last month, but it was a different story for the Japanese automaker’s luxury brand. In fact, Acura’s sedans continued their recent momentum enough to last year’s June sedan sales, thanks to the continued success of the TLX and ILX.
Acura sedan sales last month totaled 5,878, representing a whopping 107.9% increase in month-over-month sales. The TLX accounted for nearly 4,000 of those sales, while the ILX moved 1,662 units, good for a 79% sales increase.
However, that’s not to say that Acura SUVs had a bad June—in fact, Acura’s truck sales of 9,649 vehicles represented a 15.2% increase. As usual, the MDX and RDX were the brand’s bread and butter, with the latter enjoying its best June ever thanks to 5,056 sales.
“It is exciting to see Acura sedans enjoy success in the face of a market where light trucks have been dominating,” said Acura executive Mike Accavitti. “We’re pleased by the record month for the refreshed RDX, but the growing momentum of the TLX and ILX is key to the future of the Acura brand.”
Overall, Acura’s June 2015 sales totaled 15,527, which lifted the brand 38.6%
