Ford is already off to a roaring start in 2014 thanks to its presence at this week’s International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.  The latest announcement should serve to make those who drive SYNC AppLink-enabled Ford vehicles feel safer in 2014: the ADT® Pulse app, which allows users to arm and disarm their home or office security systems remotely and ensure that all doors and window are closed, will be now be compatible with the Ford SYNC in-car connectivity system.

By utilizing the Sync AppLink interface, Ford drivers will be able to take full advantage of the ADT® Pulse app and its safety-ensuring features through nothing more than voice commands. By downloading the app to their iOS or Android smartphones, drivers will be able to connect to ADT® Pulse by simply pressing the SYNC button on their steering wheels and speaking, never so much as having to pick up their mobile phones.

Functions of the ADT® Pulse app include:

  • Checking the status of security systems remotely and ensuring that all doors and windows are shut and locked in the building
  • Remote security system arming and disarming
  • Opening a door remotely for family members or caregivers who may be accidentally locked or need access
  • Ability to adjust lighting and heating to satisfaction, ensuring that the home or office is to their liking when the driver arrives

“The ADT® Pulse App app shows that everything in our lives is becoming increasingly interconnected,” said Julius Marchwicki, global product manager for Ford SYNC AppLink, in the automaker’s official press release. “Now, working with other technology companies, we are able to see what a truly connected world is starting to look like.

“This app gives drivers the ease of controlling their home or business security, while keeping hands on the wheel and eyes on the road,” Marchwicki added.
