All-New 2016 Lexus RX Will Debut in New York
Mark your calendars: The new Lexus RX crossover will be officially revealed on Wednesday, April 1st at 9:10am EST at the New York International Auto Show.
Lexus released the teaser image shown above today that suggests a significant change in the familiar design of the RX for its fourth generation. The body lines seem more crisp and jagged like more recent Lexus designs, and the rear hatch seems to be a lot more streamlined.

The current generation RX has actually been around since 2008, receiving a facelift in 2012, so it’s definitely getting long in the tooth. Today’s announcement that it would be completely redesigned was unexpected, but not surprising. It’s currently on a front-wheel drive platform powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine generating 270 horsepower, although Active Torque Control all-wheel drive is available on the base model and stock on the F SPORT. It’s also available as a hybrid in front-wheel or all-wheel drive capable of up to 30 combined city/highway miles per gallon.
No word yet on what kind of powerplant the new RX will have, but it’s probably safe to assume that the hybrid model will return. We’d like to propose an RX F version with the 467 horsepower 5.0-liter V8, but that’s probably not going to happen.
