2019 all-new Volkswagen Arteon debuts at 2018 Chicago Auto Show

The much-anticipated Volkswagen Arteon made a bright statement with its U.S. debut at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. The midsize sedan, designed to be a flagship of Volkswagen in the states, boasts power, space, innovative tech, and a graceful design.

“The Arteon combines the design elements of a traditional sports car with the elegance and space of a fastback,” says Klaus Bischoff, head of design for the Volkswagen brand. “It’s an avant-garde business class gran turismo that speaks to the heart and the head alike.”

The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged engine, which is magnificently mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, with optional 4Motion all-wheel-drive. This powertrain generates 268 horsepower.

The long wheelbase affords ample interior space even for passengers in the rear seats, and the 2019 Arteon features available technology such as the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, which features a customizable 12-inch screen to keep you entertained, as well as available comfort-focused technologies such as heated and ventilated rear and front seats, three-zone climate control, and massaging front seats.

Advanced safety and driver assist technologies such as automatic cruise control, automatic high-beam adjustment, and lane-keeping assist are also available features of the 2019 Arteon.

“We wanted to offer a premium model in the midsize sedan world that would really catch the eye,” said Stefanie Obenhaupt, Volkswagen Group of America’s director of product marketing for full-size vehicles.

Eye-catching exterior details include a grille that stretches across the width of the sedan’s front, curved full LED units, chrome accents, and a “sizeable rear hatch with integrated spoiler.” A power hatch, which is operated with a foot kick, and a panoramic sunroof are available features.
