In case you didn’t already know, Buick is kind of a big deal in China, especially its GL8 multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), which has accounted for more than 700,000 units moved since the GL8 Avenir was launched back in November. Now, in an effort to increase sales even further, Buick has released another trim level for its popular MPV that’s been dubbed the GL8 25S–and it’s already on sale in the People’s Republic.

The all-new Buick GL8 25S receives its motivation from a 2.5-liter SIDI DVVT all-aluminum engine that’s good for approximately 197 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque. This high-tech engine is reportedly 16% more efficient than the one it replaced thanks to an enhanced electric power steering system and low rolling resistance tires. Furthermore, this improved motor will work with a six-speed transmission that features start-stop technology.

Once inside of the new MPV, consumers will find Buick’s next-gen IntelliLink infotainment system that provides hands-free calling, smartphone integration, voice recognition, and SMS downloading. To go along with this tech, the GL8 25S has been outfitted with a beige interior with three-dimensional folding surfaces, as well as electronically adjustable front seats and second-row executive seats.

As for the vehicle’s exterior, consumers have the choice of five unique color options and the front of the vehicle features Buick’s new chrome-plated split-wing grille.

New safety equipment has also been added to the Buick GL8 25S, which comes in the form of a new Bosch ESP electronic stability system. This all-new safety feature also supports Hydraulic Brake Compensation, Hill Start Assist, Rollover Mitigation, and Low Vacuum Brake Assist.

The new GL8 25 S trim level is one of 18 new or updated vehicles that GM plans to debut in China in 2017.

The asking price of the Buick GL8 in China starts from RMB 200,000 to RMB 450,000. That’s roughly the equivalent of $29,014 to $65,283 in US currency.
