The 2017 Kia Niro Hybrid has debuted in UK showrooms

After introducing the Niro concept car earlier this year, Kia fans everywhere have been wondering when they would get to see the Niro in person. Well, those fans in the United Kingdom don’t have to wait anymore—the Kia Niro Hybrid is finally on sale.

Orders have opened for the Niro all across the UK. In this market, it is available with four trim levels: 1, 2, 3, and First Edition. It has a starting price tag of £21,295, which is the equivalent of $28,206.

The 1 trim level offers standard 16-inch alloy wheels, LED Daytime Running Lights and taillights, along with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and dual-zone automatic air conditioning. It also has cruise control and Lane Keep Assist for those that like some sweet technology.

It’s Electric: Learn how electric cars work

For the 2 trim level, Kia has added high-gloss trim details, black cloth and leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter, and a 7-inch touchscreen navigation screen. Add the rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and headed and power-folding side mirrors, and you might want to pay the extra £1,500 ($1,987) for this trim.

£23,695 ($31,385) gets consumers the 3 trim, which gets even more gadgets. This tech includes an 8-inch touchscreen navigation screen, premium sound system, a wireless cell phone charger, black leather upholstery, heated front seats with electric controls, and stainless steel scuff plates.

Finally, for the First Edition, luxury is at the extreme. With a price tag of £26,995 ($35,756), the First Edition offers a one-of-a-kind grey leather trim, white interior accents, heated outer rear seats, ventilated front seats, a smart key, and an engine stop/start button. It also has a slew of driver assistance technologies, including Blind Spot Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Smart Cruise Control.

The entire range has a standard 1.6-liter GDI engine that churns out 104 horsepower and 108 lb-ft of torque. This standard engine is paired with an electric motor that has 44 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque, along with a 1.56 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. Combined, this hybrid powertrain puts out 139 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.

The Niro Hybrid crossover won’t come to the United States until early 2017, but if it is anything like the UK’s version, which we hope it will be, it’s definitely going to be worth the wait.
