Employees of Valley Honda take on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is officially taking over social media. When we open our Facebook or Instagram apps in the morning, it seems like every other post is about the viral challenged designed to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the ALS Association. ALS, which first became widely-known in 1939 when baseball player Lou Gehrig’s career ended due to the disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. People affected with ALS tend to degenerate quickly, and paralysis in the later stages of the disease is common.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has spread across social networks like wildfire, with everyone from actors and musicians to worldwide companies and United States presidents pouring ice water over themselves and donating to the ALS Association. We already know that both Toyota and Chevy have jumped on the bandwagon, and now we’re getting word that various dealerships across the country are saying “goodbye” to their dignity and their money, and taking part in the Ice Bucket Challenge. Here are a few of our favorites, in no particular order.

Jim Ellis Automotive Group (Atlanta, GA)

In this video, 16 members of management and staff at Jim Ellis Automotive took the challenge at once, challenging their entire client base to step up and take on the challenge.

Paul Obaugh Ford (Staunton, VA)

Jeremy Moore, New Car Sales Manager at Paul Obaugh Ford, took the challenge along with Internet Manager Roger Aldhizer.

Mitchell Hyundai (Enterprise, AL)

Mitchell Hyundai salesperson Fred Sneed—also known as Dr. Hyundai—takes one for the team in the name of charity.

Casey BMW (Newport News, VA)

Jim Schroer, Casey BMW’s General Manager, thought ice water would go beautifully with his Hawaiian shirt, and challenged other managers within the Casey Auto Group to take one for the team and donate.

Allen Toyota Scion (Gulfport, MS)

The managers at Allen Toyota decided to get their clothes wet while nominating friends, coworkers, and family members to take on the challenge.

Valley Honda (Aurora, IL)

Valley Honda owner, Bob Navarre and his team stood still while a digger unloaded a ton of ice and cold water on their heads. Navarre challenged Takuji Yamada (President of Honda North America) and John Mendel (EVP of Automotive Sales Division of American Honda), who answered the challenge in their own video.

Stalker Chevrolet (Creston, IA)

The chaps at Stalker Chevrolet challenged local business owners to join them in taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
