‘American Pickers’ Adds 2015 Ford Transit to Cast
The popular History Channel show American Pickers has a new cast member. No, there wasn’t a Storage Wars-like blowup between Mike and Frank; we’re talking about the 2015 Ford Transit, which appeared for the first time as the vehicle of Antique Archaeology in the April 30episode.
“The biggest thing is, when the van is full, then we’ve got to come home. I’m interested in real estate on wheels,” star Mike Wolfe said during the episode. “There were four or five different vehicles I was looking at, and I just keep coming back to the Ford as the better choice.”
Given that Mike makes his living weighing options and assessing things for their worth, his opinion on the 2015 Transit is as good as gold.
The model seen on American Pickers is the largest available—a long wheelbase, extended body, high roof Transit powered by the burly 3.2-liter Power Stroke five-cylinder diesel engine.
In order to celebrate the collaboration, Ford will hold a scavenger hunt through July 1 that tasks fast to find one of 10 scale-model Transit vehicles on display in antique shops across the United States. Those lucky enough to find a model at their local antique hideaway will earn the use of a brand-new Transit for two weeks. Details about the contest can be found at social.ford.com/winTransit.
“Transit has been tested to rigorous Built Ford Tough standards, and comes equipped with great technology features like SYNC® and MyFord Touch®, and Lane-Keeping System with Driver Alert,” said Minyang Jiang, Ford brand manager for Transit, Transit Connect and E-Series. “‘American Pickers’ fits in with the spirit of the Transit family as vehicles people can rely on to get the job done.”
The Transit model used on American Pickers features the available rear-view camera and available Reverse Sensing System. Not a bad deal at all!
