Amy Purdy to Join Oprah Winfrey on Tour for Toyota’s “Standing O-Vation”
An eight-city arena tour and transformational weekend organized by Oprah Winfrey will play host to Team Toyota athlete and Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy later this year, according to a press release issued by the Japanese automaker. Purdy will join Winfrey onstage during “Oprah’s The Life You Want Weekend,” for a segment known as Toyota’s “Standing O-Vation.”
Toyota’s “Standing O-Vation” recognizes extraordinary women from around the country for their hard work and dedication in making the world a better place for everyone. Additionally, the segment aims to motivate others to go beyond their comfort zones and help others or stand up for causes they believe in. Nominations for Toyota’s “Standing O-Vation” are ongoing now. If you know someone who deserves to be recognized this year, you can nominate her using the online form at oprah.com/standingovation.
Amy Purdy herself is an extremely strong woman who has overcome losing her legs to meningitis at age 19 to become a Paralympic Bronze Medalist Snowboarder. Purdy is also the founder of the Toyota-supported nonprofit organization Adaptive Action Sports, which runs programs for youth, young adults, and wounded veterans living with various disabilities.
You can see Oprah Winfrey and Amy Purdy later this year when “Oprah’s The Life You Want Weekend” hits the road, starting in Atlanta, Georgia on September 5-6. Visit the tour’s website to learn about the dates closest to you.
