Android Auto Coming to Chevrolet MyLink in 2016

We have good news for Android fans: the date has finally been set for Android Auto to arrive in select Chevrolet vehicles. Apple fans have been able to utilize CarPlay in most Chevy cars since June, and this week it was announced that March 2016 will be the magic month for 2016 model year drivers. Customers looking at a new car should also be happy to know that Android Auto will be available on many of Chevy’s affordable models, as well as some of their most exclusive.
The Android Auto system, like the comparable Apple CarPlay, enables smartphones to link to a vehicle’s infotainment system. That means that the device is hooked into steering wheel buttons, voice controls, and large screens to keep a driver focused on the road while still connected to apps that matter, like maps and music.
According to Chevrolet, the following 2016 cars equipped with the seven-inch MyLink infotainment system will be able to use Android Auto: Spark, Cruze (excludes Limited), Malibu (excludes limited), Camaro, Camaro Convertible, Silverado, and Silverado HD. In addition, these 2016 vehicles equipped with the eight-inch MyLink Infotainment display will also be able to install Android Auto: Cruze (excludes Limited), Malibu (excludes Limited), Impala, Volt, Camaro, Camaro Convertible, Corvette, Corvette Convertible, Colorado, Silverado, Silverado HD, Tahoe, and Suburban.
The Android Auto update will have to be installed and checked by a dealership, not the car owner themselves. It will be worth it for all the functionality and entertainment it will add to your drive.
