Apply Now For 2017 Nissan Foundation Grants
Here at The News Wheel, we talk a lot about the Nissan Foundation when discussing Nissan’s work in the community. The Foundation was established in 1992 in response to the Rodney King trial verdict reaction in Los Angeles. Nissan’s leaders wanted to have an easy way to celebrate the diversity of America, help support community initiatives, and bring awareness to different ways of life. From grant awardees, to helping rhinos in Africa, to giving the Nashville Police Department money for civil rights training, the organization is always looking to do the most good.
If you or someone you know working for a nonprofit organization, you could be eligible for a grant from the Nissan Foundation next year. Because the Foundation looks to make the biggest difference in the areas where it operates large offices and facilities, applicants and the projects being submitted must be located in the North Central Texas, Southern California, Middle Tennessee, Eastern Michigan, South Central Mississippi, the New York City area, or Atlanta Metro area. Organizations that meet that criteria can submit Letters of Intent (LOI) to the Nissan Foundation for its 2017 grant year. All LOIs must be received by 5pm PST/8pm EST on Friday, November 18th 2016.
The Nissan Foundation traditionally awards its grants in the summer, and currently forecasts the announcements to be made in July of next year. “The Nissan Foundation is committed to enriching people’s lives in the communities where Nissan operates,” said Vicki Smith, executive director of the Nissan Foundation.”The Foundation supports educational programs that celebrate and foster greater appreciation for the value that exists in a positive, diverse community.”
