Audi Is Ready To Share
Do you wish that you could drive an Audi, but your bank account is presenting a bit of an obstacle? We have some very good news for you, as Audi has joined the growing number of automakers, like BMW and GM, that are jumping on the car sharing bandwagon. The new program is called shared fleet (yes, all lower case), and it will help people in urban areas have a car when they need it. The extra selling point for Audi is the quality of vehicles that participants will be able to borrow.

According to Audi of America, the service will first be tested in Durham, North Carolina before being considered for nationwide rollout in 2017. The fleet will be based out of American Underground, a technology incubator with more than 200 startup companies and 700 employees housed in an old American Tobacco Co. facility. Like many other car and ride sharing programs, participants will log in with an app to reserve and unlock their rented Audi. At this time, the program will be utilizing three fully-loaded 2017 Audi A4 sedans in a bright shade of red to start off.

Audi is part of the Volkswagen Group, which is no stranger to car sharing. Previous projects include Audi on demand and Audi at home are a testament to that. VW also invests in Europe’s ride share scheme called Gett. We look forward to more opportunities around the country for drivers to get behind the wheel of a luxurious ride sharing vehicle instead of some of the smaller options we usually see (looking at you, Scoot Quad).
