“Avengers” Actor Robert Downey Jr. Commissions “Captain America”-Themed Camaro for Co-Star Chris Evans
At the end of Captain America: Civil War, the eponymous superhero and his fellow Avenger Iron Man did not depart on the best of terms. It would seem that strained relationship does not exist between the two actors who portray the superheroes: Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.
In fact, Downey Jr., who portrays Iron Man, actually presented Evans, Cap’s actor, with a unique gift: a customized Captain America-themed Chevy Camaro.

The custom Camaro was recently featured on a recent episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. In fact, the entire episode is currently available to view online:
Downey Jr. reached out to SpeedKore Performance Group for the job. The vehicle is a modified 1967 Camaro model, with modern amenities like a touchscreen.
According to SpeedKore Vice President David Salvaggio, Downey Jr. got really involved with the build of the vehicle. In fact, he was so pleased with the results that he ordered two more vehicles from SpeedKore.

When designing the vehicle, Speedkore wanted it to look patriotic without looking too garish. So, instead of applying a coat of red, white, and blue paint to the Camaro, the designers opted for a grey-green paint job, which they dubbed “Melted Army Man Green.”
The inteior of the vehicle also features some nods to the “Star-Spangled Man with the Plan.” The steering wheel is designed to look like Cap’s shield, while the leather interior resembles the leather jacket that the superhero wore in his debut film: Captain America: The First Avenger.
Robert Downey Jr. actually surprised Evans with the car during the production of Avengers: Infinity War. Since the Iron Man actor ordered two additional vehicles from SpeedKore, perhaps he is planning to provide Hulk and Thor with rides of their own.
