Back to Black: Subaru’s 2018 Forester Offers a Safer, Sportier 2.5i Black Edition Package
In both the cinema and car realms, black seems to be the Color of the Year for 2017. While moviegoers can look forward to films like Justice League, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Kong: Skull Island, car enthusiasts can anticipate the new 2.5i Black Edition of the Subaru Forester. With mainstream powerhouses Audi, Honda, Ford, and Nissan already offering black editions, we are excited that Subaru has finally joined the trend.
The new Black Edition package is true to its name. It decks out the Forester frame in stylish black 18-inch alloy wheels, front grille, mirror caps, badges, and fog light trim. The interior echoes this trend. It boasts black cloth upholstery, as well as a leather-sheathed steering wheel and gear shifter.
Besides the cosmetic update, the new Black Edition also provides boosted safety and technology. The package includes an option previously available only with Forester 2.0XT models: steering wheel paddle shifters. This capacity gives the driver a range of six ratios to choose from. The new package also includes LED headlights, Welcome Lighting, a rear cargo tray, and an All-Weather Package. It’s also rigged with Hill Descent Control and X-Mode, two technological perks that increase safety on uneven, slippery, or steep terrain.
The new Black Edition package costs $1,150 and is available only on the Forester 2.5i Premium model. The package’s U.S. release is set to hit dealers this summer. Consumers on the market for an affordable, trendy Forester model should mark their calendars for the Black Edition’s debut.
