Bandit Attempts To Steal the Same Car, Twice

Lighting can strike twice, after all.

This person stole a Lexus from a Bronx home, then went back two days later and tried to steal it again

So what could be dumber than breaking into a house, grabbing a set of car keys, and then stealing a car?

How about doing it twice!

That’s what recently happened in the Bronx. On May 17th, a young man—police have estimated him to be between the ages of 16 and 18—entered a home on Ely Avenue through an unlocked door. Surveillance footage then shows the teenager emerging with a pair of sneakers and a set of keys to a new Lexus NX 300h, which he took for a joy ride.

The Lexus was found two days later about seven miles away, near East 150th St. The automobile was not damaged and returned to its owner.

Then the unthinkable happened.

The same teenager showed up two days later on May 19th and attempted to steal the car for a second time, in broad daylight. This time a helpful neighbor witnessed the crime and confronted the young man, who then took off running.

Since this event, the victim has added a huge lock to her gate, changed the key to her Lexus, and said she will no longer be leaving any of her doors unlocked.

It is not known why the thief targeted the Lexus NX 300h SUV. It could be any number of factors, including the NX 300h’s generous cargo room, iconic lighting, or maybe its Lexus Enform technology.

One thing is for sure. If he tries to steal the car for a third time, he is officially the dumbest person on Earth.
