The New York Times has reported that this year’s installment of the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona raised an impressive $249 million total across 2,815 lots of unique and one-of-a-kind vehicles.  $113 million of the gross went to Barrett-Jackson-brought vehicles.

While it may seem impressive enough that the first production versions of the Camaro Z/28 and COPO Camaro fetched respective totals of $650,000 and $700,000 at the yearly event, the top ten vehicles auctioned fetched anywhere between three and twelve times the total of the latter.

They include:

  • 1958 Ferrari 250 GT California LWB Spider ($8.8 million)
  • 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet ($6.2 million)
  • 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail Coupe ($5.3 million)
  • 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe ($3.9 million)
  • 1956 Ferrari 410 Superamerica SI Coupe ($3.3 million)
  • 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Coupe ($3.2 million)
  • 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport Spider ($3.1 million)
  • 1969 Chevrolet Corvette #57 Rebel L88 Convertible ($2.9 million)
  • 1961 Porsche 718 RS 62 Spyder ($2.8 million)
  • 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C Coupe ($2.6 million)

According to a press release issued after the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, 1,399 cars were sold—the proceeds of 14 sales also went to benefit various national and local charities.  The proceedings also claimed two Guinness World Records—Largest Marquee and Largest Single-Unit Marquee.

“This was a huge year for Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson.  “We sold some great cars for charity, attendance exceeded 300,000 and the celebrity turnout was great.  Scottsdale 2014 witnessed an increase in the value of Americana cars as well as the general strengthening of the value of the cars we sold.  We think that this trend will continue throughout 2014 and look forward to these increased numbers at our other 2014 auctions.  As our brand becomes more global, as our reach enters new media markets and as consignors and bidders engage in our lifestyle events as well as our website, we anticipate strong participation at our upcoming auctions.”
