2015 Genesis Sedan Wins Best Car Tech Award From PCWorld and TechHive
This year’s International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was abuzz with talk of virtual reality made reality, 4k resolution, and television staying ahead of the curve with a curve. The automotive industry was also heavily represented at the 2014 CES, and Hyundai has announced that the staffs of TechHive and PCWorld selected their 2015 Genesis sedan as one of the best of the show. The 2015 Genesis won the Best Car Tech award, particularly for the features announced along with the new generation of Blue Link, Genesis Intelligent Assistant, and Google Glass compatibility.
“Apps are the thing for cars at CES this year, and the 2015 Hyundai Genesis takes the trend further than anyone else,” said Melissa Riofrio, senior editor, PCWorld, in a statement released by Hyundai. “The car will sport the latest version of Hyundai’s Blue Link® telematics system, and its basic functions will be accessible via a browser, a smartphone, or the central display. But what I really love is how the Blue Link system can dig into local sources like your phone and calendar, and external sources like traffic reports, to recommend the best departure time for your next errand. Now that’s service.”
The Genesis Intelligent Assistant app will utilize Blue Link features, internet capabilities, vehicle data, and the driver’s smartphone in order to provide notifications and recommendations to 2015 Hyundai Genesis drivers. This includes getting up-to-the-minute traffic updates to determine ideal departure times in order to make appointments scheduled in your smartphone calendar and utilizing local weather data to suggest using remote climate control to cool or warm your vehicle in advance.
“Customers told us they want Blue Link to work like their smartphone and we’ve worked with Google, Covisint and Station Digital Media to deliver this level of functionality,” said Barry Ratzlaff, executive director, Customer Connect and Service Business Development, Hyundai Motor America. “Blue Link subscribers now have access to Google’s accuracy and massive database when they search for destinations. Plus our engineers have developed a variety of new features aimed at delighting our customers.”
New features for the next generation of Blue Link that helped the 2015 Genesis earn the Best Car Tech award include destination search powered by Google, timed remote start and stop, and Automatic Collision Notification (ACN) and SOS Emergency Assistance.
