BMW Group Sales in July Up 7.4 Percent,
BMW Group sales in July for the United States were up 7.4 percent with 32,220 vehicles sold. 26,409 of those vehicles belonged to the BMW brand, which was up 9.8 percent year-over-year in what was its best July ever. MINI was down 2.3 percent from its July 2013 sales figures with 5,811 units sold.
On the year, BMW brand sales in the United States are up 11.7 percent at 183,791 vehicles. BMW light trucks are up 19 percent on the strength of their X3, which is up 43 percent year-to-date, and the consistency of the X5, which leads the segment in volume with 25,126 units sold.
“The sales momentum that’s been building all year reached its year-to-date peak in July, setting a new BMW record for the month,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “There’s certainly more to come, especially with the new X4 and 4 Series Gran Coupe now hitting the market and our revolutionary hybrid-electric BMW i8 on the horizon.”
In addition, the X6 leapt 215.6 percent in July, drawing it almost exactly even with its pace through the first seven months of 2013. The X4 moved 262 units in its first month of sales.
As can be expected, the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series were huge components of BMW’s July success with a cumulative 12,497 units sold for the month. The 1/2 Series models were up 4.8 percent in July, and the 5 Series was up 16.9 percent.
BMW Pre-Owned vehicle sales were up 12.6 percent with 16,884 vehicles sold.
Despite another down month for MINI, used MINIs enjoyed their best July sales ever with 2,115 vehicles sold.
