The BMW Championship

We’re not sure what BMW has in common with golf other than that both are somewhat expensive to get into—nonetheless, BMW, the Western Golf Association (WGA), and PGA Tour have announced the automaker’s commitment as the title sponsor of the BMW Championship has been extended by five years through 2019.

In addition to being named Tournament of the Year in 2012 and 2013 by PGA Tour, the BMW Championship features an impressive list of golfers, including Tiger Woods, Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, and defending champion Zac Johnson.

As part of the sponsorship, all net proceedings from the BMW Championship conducted by the WGA will benefit the Evans Scholar Foundation, which has received more than $16 million since BMW became title sponsor in 2007. The Evans Scholar Foundation grants full college scholarships to golf caddies.

“BMW has been a terrific partner of both the PGA TOUR and WGA, and we very much look forward to continuing this collaboration over the next five years,” said Tim Finchem, PGA Tour Commissioner.
