BMW of North America is happy to support Team USA at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio no matter what the final results are, but it is especially overjoyed when the athletes it helped prepare for the games and compete in them bring home a medal for their efforts. Members of the U.S. Paralympics Track and Field team, who utilized BMW’s new racing wheelchair, achieved great success in Rio, and are bringing back to America medals in gold, silver, and bronze.

BMW Performance Team members Chelseas McClammer and Tatyana McFadden set four new Paralympic records in their events while using the new BMW racing wheelchair, and managed to gather seven medals for the American team. McFadden was a 14-time world champion before these Rio games, and she took home her seventh Paralympic gold medal. She worked with McClammer to complete two podium sweeps for the USA, and McClammer had three personal best times during the events.

“It’s been a remarkable year for these athletes and we are so proud to have watched their hard work come to fruition,” said Trudy Hardy, Vice President, Marketing, BMW of North America. “To witness multiple BMW Performance Team athletes compete in the BMW wheelchair and earn a spot on the podium was incredibly rewarding and we are so privileged to have been part of the journey.”

All together, there were eight Team USA Olympians on the BMW Performance Team. Joining McFadden and Mcclammer were Aaron Pike, April Holmes, Josh George, Tyler Clary, Nathan Adrian, and Maya DiRado. We can’t wait to see if BMW joins  Team USA in 2018 for the Winter Olympics.
