The BMW X Series is getting a new addition to its family—the BMW X4 Sports-Activity Coupe. Originally seen at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show in concept form, the new X4 will debut at the 2014 New York Auto Show in April as a smaller version of the existing BMW X6.

Sharing nearly all its parts with the compact X3, the BMW X4 will be almost truck-like in its front styling, with a coupe-like roofline heavily sloping down to the rear. The powertrain for the X4 isn’t yet known, but because of the similarities with the X3, our guess is the X4’s power will come from an xDrive28i with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that can get up to 240 horsepower or a xDrive35i with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, which gets 300 hp.

Along with the BMW X4 debut, the X3’s newest facelift will also be revealed at New York in April. It’s been reported that the X3 will be given a new face in order to better match its X4 kin. Make sure you check back to The News Wheel for more updates on the BMW X4!
