Porsche 70 Years is a very large and very beautiful book. Because the author wishes for you to truly understand the quality of Porsche products and that there is no substitute for the brand, it is perhaps no surprise that the book discussing this is itself of such fine quality, from the hefty feel of the cover and the glossy, thick-paper pages to the absolutely beautiful photographs, some of them spanning the length of 25 inches across two pages. The only downside is that because of its size, Porsche 70 Years will look rather out of place amid the regular-sized books on your bookshelf—unless, of course, you add similar books to your collection.

For those interested in Porsche because they are driving enthusiasts, Porsche 70 Years may be difficult to get into. This is because it at first reads like a history book, chronicling the various events directly pertaining to Porsche’s past, which sometimes may involve delving on historical events that on the surface might have seemed to have little to do with Porsche itself, such as wartime politics.
The upside is that if you like history, or are simply committed to learning as much about Porsche as possible, Porsche 70 Years contains across its 256 pages truly extensive insight into the brand, the major individuals behind it, and more importantly the most significant models to come out of Stuttgart. I can conclusively say that if you want a condensed history lesson on Porsche’s last 70 years that focuses on its most legendary cars, you won’t do much better than getting your hands on this book. There is, dare I say it, no substitute.
