This innovative invention detects when a driver is accelerating inefficiently when it is installed in a gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicle. When it detects an inefficient situation, it automatically vibrates and lightens pressure on the accelerator to reduce the amount of fuel the driver is using. It specifically works alongside the navigation, powertrain, and driver assistance systems in each vehicle.
In hybrid vehicles, the active pedal alerts the driver when power is being shifted between electronic drive and the regular engine. This will allow drivers to adapt their driving habits to be the most fuel-efficient drivers possible.

But this innovative gas pedal doesn’t just save fuel—it can also alert the driver when to shift gears, and includes a coasting function. This function gets rid of fuel consumption and emissions when the car is going downhill.
Right now, this pedal is just a great invention. We’ll just have to wait and see if any carmakers are interested in using Bosch’s newest creation.
