Buick Achievers Scholarship Program Open for 2014 Applications

Buick AchieversThis week, the Buick Achievers Scholarship Program began accepting applications for 2014 scholarships; they will continue to accept applications from now until Friday, February 28th at 5 p.m. EST. The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is funded by the General Motors Foundation and is in its fourth year of service.

The program was created in 2011 in order to assist students who excel in the classroom while also giving back to their communities. In order to be eligible, high school student or current college undergrads must be seeking a college degree in one of the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and math) or in any degree relative to the automotive industry.

Since its inception, the Buick Achievers Scholarship Program has provided $16.5 million in scholarships o students throughout the United States. In 2014, the program will award 100 scholarships of up to $25,000 a year, renewable for up to four years, or up to five years for qualifying engineering programs.  Students from the United States and Puerto Rico are eligible.

“The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is helping students across the U.S. pay for and obtain a quality secondary education focused on STEM,” said GM Foundation President Vivian Pickard in a press release. “Through the program, we are helping to shape the next generation of leaders and innovators for the automotive industry and for other sectors important to the future success of our country.”
