The TourX won’t be receiving a power boost anytime soon

Two of the most highly-anticipated models that Buick has revealed in the past handful of months are the Buick Regal TourX and the Buick Regal GS. Still, if Buick enthusiasts were hoping for a combination of these two Regal iterations, then they will be more than a little disappointed by the latest news from Buick.

After all, Buick’s chief Duncan Aldred stated that there are no plans for a GS model of the 2018 Buick Regal TourX.

Aldred recently announced that the TourX will only come offered with one engine: Buick’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Regal GS utilizes a 3.6-liter V6 engine.

That V6 engine helps the GS trim of the Regal deliver a spirited performance. With it under the hood, the 2018 Regal GS is capable of producing up to 310 horsepower and 282 lb-ft of torque.

For Australian drivers, the Holden counterpart of the Regal TourX, the Commodore Tourer, will be able to provide a performance that is closer to matching that offered by the Regal GS. Instead of a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, it will come with a 3.6-liter LGX V6 engine under the hood.

Even without the power of the GS engine on its side, the 2018 Buick Regal TourX is poised to be a major competitor in America’s minuscule wagon market. With a standard all-wheel drive system, the TourX will serve a direct competitor to the always-popular Subaru Outback.

While the Buick Regal TourX is not set to be released until February of next year, we’re certain to learn more about the vehicle as its release date approaches.
