Buick Launches Envision 20T in China
Shanghai GM revealed the Buick Envision 20T yesterday, adding a new powertrain and four variants to the Envision family in support of the Envision 28T, which launched in China last October.
The Envision 20T is powered by a 1.5-liter turocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, which is mated to a new seven-speed dual-clutch. The turbodiesel is expected to produce 166 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque between 1,700 and 4,400 RPM, and with the help of standard start/stop technology, it’s expected to return an average of 35.6 mpg.
Available in either front-wheel drive or full-wheel drive, the Buick Envision 20T will feature a MacPherson strut front suspension, an independent four-link rear suspension, and a full front sub-frame. Stylistically, it will feature wing-style HID headlamps and LED taillights; LED daytime running lights; dual-panel panoramic sunroof; heated and power-adjustable rearview mirrors; and 17-inch, 10-spoke aluminum wheels. Interior color options include Swallowtail Black and Burgundy.
Standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, Hill Start Assist, Curve Brake Control, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Certain variants also include Automatic Parking Assist.
Buick is expected to bring some iteration of the Envision stateside in the fall, and given the tendencies and needs of the American market, it would more likely be offered with the 28T’s 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine and its 256 horsepower.
