Buick celebrates 1 million global sales for year of 2016 in September

Apparently the whole “That’s not a Buick!” catchphrase translates well in other languages, because the upscale automotive brand is having the best global sales year in its entire 113-year history.

Today the company reported yearly global worldwide deliveries of 1,046,746 vehicles through the month of September. This marks the fastest that Buick has ever reached the one million sales milestone in any given year, and for comparison’s sake, is 200,000 more sales than the automaker had by this same time last year.

Additionally, Buick’s 23% year-over-year growth is the highest in the industry for major brands selling vehicles in both North America and China. Assuming the trend holds throughout the next three months, 2016 will set Buick’s fourth consecutive all-time global sales record.

“Demand worldwide continues to grow for attainable Buick luxury and the beautiful, quiet and comfortable cars and SUVs we offer,” said Global Buick Sales executive Duncan Aldred. “We complement that driving experience with customer service that consistently ranks among the highest in the industry.”

Things are looking good for Buick both home and abroad, with year-to-date sales in the United States at their highest point in 11 years, and the company currently ranked as the second-largest passenger-car brand in China.

Buick credits its SUV lineup for the company’s international gains. The Envision compact sport utility vehicle is on track for over 200,000 global sales, and is averaging just 23 days on dealer lots in North America (less than half the industry average of 65 days).

Additionally, the Buick Encore small SUV has also showed continued global sales growth since being launched four years ago, and looks to continue its trend with a redesigned 2017 model launching now.
