Buick sales in the United States were up 5% in September as the brand moved a total of 18,341 vehicles. As has been the case for all of 2015, Buick was led by the Encore crossover, which had yet another month of massive sales gains, but the biggest surprise for the month was arguably the recovery of sales for both LaCrosse and Regal.

New Buick Research: A brief glimpse at what makes the 2015 Buick Encore so hot

The Buick Encore posted its 21st straight month of year-over-year sales gains with 5,624 units sold in September. This was a 46.2% increase from 3,848 units sold in September 2014, bringing the Encore’s year-to-date total to 49,285 vehicles sold.

The Enclave was also up in September, but only slightly. Enclave was ostensibly flat at 4,732 units sold, bringing its to-date total to 46,785 units sold through September. Combining sales of Enclave and Encore, Buick crossover sales were up 21% for the month.

Surprisingly enough, both the LaCrosse and Regal posted sales gains in September, a rarity in a year that has seen continual sliding in the sedan segment. Regal was up 26.5% with 1,728 units sold, and LaCrosse was up 7% with 3,880 units sold. Verano sales were down 39.3% in September, and all three Buick sedans have posted double-digit sales declines to date.

Through nine months, Buick’s US sales are down 1.8% at 167,727 units.
