Buick Sales See Significant Jump in January
If the first month of a given year sets the tempo for sales to come, then Buick will be riding quite high in 2016.
Buick’s sales were up 45.5% overall and 44.8% at retail in January. Retail sales totaled 15,447 vehicles, the best January mark since 2003, and total sales reached 18,269 vehicles, the brand’s best January figure since 2004.
This number was made possible by gains across the board. The only vehicle in Buick’s lineup to not post a year-over-year sales gain was the lone vehicle not available last year. The new Cascada convertible moved 88 units in its first month on the market as it slowly began its roll-out to dealers across the country.
The Encore posted its incredible 25th straight month of sales gains, increasing 42% year-over-year with 4,920 units sold. The Enclave also posted a 5.6% year-over-year gain in January by moving 3,692 units.
In what may come as a major surprise, Buick’s three sedans all posted year-over-year sales increase, including a 3% gain for the Verano at 2,859 units sold. More surprising: that the LaCrosse sold 4,057 units, more than doubling its sales from January 2015. And perhaps most surprising: sales of the Regal more than tripled at 2,653 units sold.
