Buick officially unveiled the 2019 Buick Envision for the North American market today, with new exterior design elements topping the list of changes for the midsize crossover.

The 2019 Envision features a “flying wing” front grille that matches recent style changes for the brand, along with a sculpted front fascia and winged headlights. The rear also sports a streamlined new look with winged taillights, reflectors, and side markers. Drivers can alter the Envision’s profile even further with a new 19-inch tire option.

For 2019, the Envision’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with six-speed automatic remains the same. However, the 2.0-liter turbo engine option incorporates a new nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter turbo’s performance also improves to 295 lb-ft of torque.

“Some of the 2019 Envision’s most notable changes are the results of listening to our customers,” said Envision chief engineer Elizabeth Pilibosian. “Beneath the updated exterior are a number of changes guided by a goal of offering the most pleasant and refined driving experience possible.”

Buick singles out one customer-motivated change in particular: The Envision’s auto-stop function now includes a deactivation switch on the instrument panel so drivers can choose whether or not to use it.

The new Envision also includes next-generation wireless charging, an upgraded hands-free microphone, heated seats that warm up faster than before, improved visibility for the rear vision camera, and an ionizer that helps block odors and improve air quality inside the vehicle.

The 2019 model was introduced this fall in China, where the Envision is highly popular. General Motors manufactures the Envision in China and imports it to the United States.
