Buick Trademarks “Tourx” Name, Could Indicate Regal Wagon to Come
Buick is undergoing a brand overhaul that aims to engender its products to a younger audience. One sure way to grab the attention of a more youthful demographic is to put forth a sporty wagon, which could be done by importing the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer as a Buick Regal.
A pair of new trademark filings may indicate that this move is in the cards…or they could indicate nothing at all.

Buick filed trademark patents with the USPTO last week for “Tourx” and “Regal Tourx,” which would seem to be a name indicative of an all-wheel-drive wagon. However, as we all well know, trademark filings don’t always equate to the creation of a product.
It does seem pretty convenient, however, that the recently revealed 2017 Buick LaCrosse will feature a new dual-clutch AWD system that Buick hopes will catch on outside of the Snowbelt. A sporty Regal wagon variant with performance-minded all-wheel drive could be a great way for Buick to fill in that “white space” that it tends to operate so well within.
Buick filed a trademark for the name “Sport Touring” in May, but it merely amounted to an available trim for its 2016 models that add a few aesthetic bells and whistles. With any luck, the follow-up on the “Tourx” name (if there is any to be had) will be something a bit more substantive.
