That’s right; a Buick sports sedan, and this is one that is going to have the stalwarts of the segment watching their backs.  The 2013 Regal GS employs a turbocharged engine to deliver more power and torque than many of its luxury competitors, but, because it’s a Buick, you are going to pay substantially less.2013 Buick Regal GS

According to a press release from the automaker, “the Buick Regal GS injects more performance into the Buick sedan lineup, but in an efficient and responsible way.”  The 2013 Regal GS is powered by an EcoTec 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that returns 27 mpg highway, while generating 270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque.

The revolutionary engine of the GS generates more torque than the Buick sport sedan’s direct competitors from Audi, Lexus, Acura, Volvo and Infiniti.  The 135 horsepower per liter produce by the turbocharged 2.0-liter makes it the most power-dense engine ever certified by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Buick was sure to load the 2013 Regal GS with innovative features so that it can compete in the luxury class with more than just performance.  The Regal GS comes standard with Buick’s IntelliLink in-car connectivity system, and offers available XM Travel Link to provide drivers with the most up-to-date travel information, including weather, fuel pricing and movie theatre locations.

The 2013 Buick Regal GS offers comparable power and features to that of the BMW 328i, but for an asking price that is roughly $11,000 less.  Does the lower price tag open up a niche in the market for the Regal GS, or is the recognizable badging from overseas competitors worth the ten grand?
