Buick Wins Three KBB Five-Year Cost to Own Awards (Again)

For the second year in a row, Buick has landed three 5-Year Cost to Own awards from Kelley Blue Book. The Buick Verano won Best Entry-Level Luxury Car, the Encore won Best Luxury Compact SUV/Crossover, and Enclave won Best Luxury Full-Size SUV/Crossover, all for the second straight time.

The average difference between the Buick models and the average cost of vehicles in each category was significant. The Verano is about $9,236 cheaper than the average competitor, the Encore is $14,370 cheaper, and the Enclave is a whopping $17,509 less expensive.

With a 5-year cost to own of $40,266, the Encore was lauded for value and luxury superior to the Acura RDX and BMW X3, with particular emphasis placed upon its low starting cost and its wide variety of options.

The Verano carried an estimated 5-year cost to own of $40,934, considered by KBB to be an underrated and reliable choice that is made even more fun with the available turbo engine.

The Enclave averages $59,700 over five years, making it about $11,224 less expensive than its nearest competitor (Audi Q7) and more than $15,000 less expensive than the third-place Lincoln Navigator.

The 5-Year Cost to Own awards are determined based on KBB’s Residual Values, which estimate depreciation over a five-year span, as well as assumed costs for fuel, financing and insurance, and maintenance and repair.
