Due to its generous use of premium materials and advanced technology features, the 2017 Cadillac XT5 crossover was recently named to the 2016 WardsAuto 10 Best Interiors List.

The 2017 model year marks the debut of the new Caddy XT5, as it replaces the brand’s best-selling SRX crossover. The 2017 XT5 was one of nine mid-size luxury crossovers that were evaluated by WardsAuto and it ended up making the final list with three other high-end CUV models.

In total, editors from WardsAuto used February and March to evaluate the interiors of 47 vehicles that featured either brand new or considerably redesigned cabins. Besides testing the user-friendliness of each vehicle’s unique infotainment systems, editors also judged the automobiles based on design harmony and ergonomics. Furthermore, editors placed a great deal of emphasis on the quality of materials used in each of the vehicles, as well as the cabin’s safety, comfort, and value.

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 was praised for its “first-rate materials,” such as its semi-Aniline Maple Sugar leather and rear camera mirror technology. Cadillac’s new rearview mirror uses a rear-mounted camera in order to display what’s happening behind the vehicle onto the rearview mirror. This mirror was also voted as the 2016 Best New Safety Technology by the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada.

The 2016 version of the WardsAuto 10 Best Interiors List was also unique, as it featured more luxury models than in years past, which the Director of Content at WardsAuto–Drew Winter–partially attributed to a new trend in the auto industry.

“It’s important that the Wards 10 Best Interiors list include mainstream, affordable vehicles,” says Winter. “But the average price of a new vehicle in the U.S. has risen past $33,000, which is forcing us to reconsider how we define mainstream, affordable vehicles.”

The new Cadillac XT5 carries a starting MSRP of $38,995 and is scheduled to reach US dealerships this month. Andrew Smith, Cadillac’s executive director of global design, will be speaking at next month’s WardsAuto Interiors Conference.
