What’s better than a Cadillac ATS-V Coupe? How about a racing variant of the model? With that, we give you the Cadillac ATS-V.R, a new competitor to the Pirelli World Challenge. And the best part? It’ll be debuting side-by-side with the Cadillac ATS-V Coupe at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week.

It really shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’re seeing the ATS-V.R so soon. It was spotted back in September and looked nearly complete. On top of that, when Chevy unveiled the 2015 Corvette Z06 at the 2014 North American International Auto Show early this past January, it also pulled back the covers on its Corvette racing model, the Corvette C7.R, at the same time. It makes sense that Cadillac will follow suit.

According to GM Authority, and not to our surprise, the Cadillac ATS-V.R is visually similar to a CTS-V.R, just smaller. Reportedly, a 3.6-liter twin turbocharged LF3 V6 will power the racer, though there aren’t many performance stats floating around just yet.

Expect great things from the ATS-V.R. The CTS-V.R has taken the Pirelli World Challenge GT championship for the past three years. And while the CTS-V.R might be slipping up a little this year, it’s evident that the ATS-V.R will be able to keep Cadillac competitive on the track.
