The 2014 Cadillac CTS has been named the MotorWeek Best Luxury Sedan.

This past week, concurrent with the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, MotorWeek handed out its vaunted Drivers’ Choice Awards. MotorWeek’s panel of experts determined that the 2014 Cadillac CTS, which already earned Motor Trend’s 2014 Car of the Year in November, was the undisputed winner in the Best Luxury Sedan category.

The CTS turned away 18 competitors to win the MotorWeek Best Luxury Sedan award thanks to its superlative performance, tech, fuel efficiency, and overall value.

“The all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan delivers crafted design, thrilling performance and sophisticated technology,” said David Leone, Global Cadillac executive chief engineer, in Cadillac’s press release. “The recognition from MotorWeek lends further credibility to the new CTS elevating the brand to new levels in every direction.”

In their rundown, MotorWeek said that the CTS “is able to embrace the mid-size sector; and does so with the panache and prowess worthy of a global player.” And while the elegant exterior earns a considerable amount of praise, MotorWeek urges drivers to “drill further into the details.”

Those award-winning details include the choice of three powertrains: the 2.0-liter turbo four that generates 272 horsepower and 20/30 mph city/highway; an available naturally aspirated V6 that puts out 321 horsepower; and the rear-wheel-drive CTS Vsport variant that comes with a 3.6-liter Cadillac Twin Turbo V6 that makes 420 hp.

“The CTS has become actual competition against European cars,” Ben Davis, MotorWeek road test editor. “All of the sophistication you would expect to find in a worthy sport sedan are there. From its Magnetic Ride Suspension to its powerhouse Twin Turbo V6.”
