According to a report out of Automotive News, we could very well see a Cadillac Escalade Vsport variant, as well as a diesel-powered Escalade, enter the model lineup in the coming future. The information comes from David Schiavone, the model line’s brand manager.

Schiavone reports that a sporty derivative (likely to be called the Escalade Vsport, though not confirmed) is very possible. Cadillac also likes the idea of V6 turbodiesel and twin-turbo gasoline V6 engines being added to the Escalade’s repertoire, sitting alongside the 6.2-liter V8 that drivers have come to know and love.

The goal of these updates is to make the Escalade far superior to the Lincoln Navigator, which will only offer a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 in 2015. The Navigator’s V8 has been thrown out for next year.

While the news is not official quite yet, things are looking very good for the future of the Escalade. Keep checking in for more updates.
