After struggling to put together a month of positive sales momentum in its home market, Cadillac finally got into the win column in April with an overall sales increase of 5%. Cadillac’s first month of positive year-over-year sales in 2015 was guided largely by strong retail sales, the majority of which came from familiar favorites.

“It was a strong month for Cadillac, as new products are driving growth and attracting new buyers,” said Bill Peffer, Cadillac U.S. vice president of sales and service. “Strong sales in March and April have enabled us to pull even with 2013, despite the industry’s very cold start to the year.”

Cadillac was led by its volume leader, the SRX, which was up 40.5% in April with 6,390 sales. To date, the SRX is down 3.9% overall, but Cadillac points out that it is currently on pace to set a new annual sales record on the retail side.

Also rolling again in April were the Escalade and Escalade ESV, which were up 121.8% and 188.4% respectively. Sales of both are up triple digits thus far in 2015, with Cadillac moving 6,771 Escalades (up 118.4%) and 4,365 Escalade ESVs (138.4%) through four months.

Despite being up 36% at retail, it was another month of overall decline for the CTS, which was down 47.2% overall. The ATS was also down considerably—22.6% behind the number from April 2014—continuing a trend of slow sales for sedans and coupes.

Two Cadillac cars had solid April sales, however; the XTS was up 13.6% and the ELR was up 70.5%.
