Cadillac Global Sales Back in Black in March
After its sales dipped 1.2% around the globe in February, Cadillac was back in the black in March with a 15% year-over-year improvement in sales. Cadillac sold 24,740 vehicles around the world, improving significantly upon the 21,528-vehicle total from the year prior.
Cadillac’s greatest gains were, as ever, made in the Chinese market. Cadillac moved 9,197 vehicles in China, up a whopping 76% from 2014. With a strong March performance, Cadillac ascends to the position of the number four luxury auto brand in China, a status earned through the success of the ATS and the ATS-L.
Cadillac was also up 65% in the Middle East and 10% in Canada, helping to offset a 7% year-over-year decline in US sales and a 7.2% drop in sales around the rest of the world. Despite Cadillac’s faltering performance in the United States, the brand is averaging a transaction price of $52,000 per vehicle, which is the highest total that Cadillac has enjoyed for the first three months of any year. Domestically-speaking, Cadillac’s sales are largely being driven by a continued increase in sales of the Escalade line, which is up 119% in the first quarter of 2015.
Undoubtedly, Cadillac hopes that excitement surrounding a spate of new reveals—including the all-new 2016 CT6—will help create buzz around the brand to keep it in the positive for the remainder of the year.
