Cadillac Racing Drivers Hope for a Big Weekend at Mid-Ohio
Will the Cadillac Racing drivers get a taste of victory this weekend at Mid-Ohio?

When you consider the fact that Cadillac Racing drivers Johnny O’Connell and Michael Cooper have both picked up victories at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, then it makes sense as to why each driver is so excited about this weekend’s events at the famous track.

“It was at Mid-Ohio, that I got my first PWC win for Cadillac (in 2011). I’d been running third, behind Mike Skeen’s Corvette, and Randy Pobst and his Volvo. They tangled in the Keyhole on the last lap and I went on to win,” O’Connell said. “Ohio is also where Olivier Beretta and I had a bit of a moment exiting pit lane back in the Corvette days. That also was pretty cool – when I look back on it.”
O’Connell is currently fourth in the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GT Championship standings. He’s earned a total of 957 points so far this season, but he experienced disappointing finishes at the previous event at Road America. Cooper on the other hand has accumulated 1,025 points and is third in the standings, only 118 behind points behind leader Alvaro Parente.
This weekend’s Pirelli World Challenge Series races at Mid-Ohio will be broadcasted on August 4th at 4pm, but fans will be able to watch the Cadillac ATS-V.R coupes compete via a live stream that will be featured on PMC’s official site.
In case you’re not familiar with the Pirelli World Challenge, their website says the purpose of this racing series “is to provide teams, manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers a competitive production-based race series in which to prove their products.”
Every GT class race is restricted to a 50-minute maximum time limit and points are awarded based on each vehicle’s finishing position, with the winner earning the highest amount of ten points.
